Our Latest SPATA Technical Inspection Result: EXCELLENT

At Rockingham Pools, we believe a great swimming pool is defined by what goes on behind the scenes.  Building a beautiful pool is one thing, but engineering a system that runs safely, efficiently, and reliably for years to come is another.

To ensure our craftsmanship consistently aligns with the UK's leading industry benchmarks, we welcome periodic technical audits from the UK’s Pool Association, the Swimming Pool and Allied Trades Association (SPATA).

We recently completed our periodic inspection with their SPATA inspector, who reviewed two of our recent projects alongside our office and project administration.  We are delighted to share that Rockingham Pools achieved an overall rating of "Excellent", and confirmation that our SPATA membership will remain based on these high standards.

Here is a brief look at what the inspector evaluated in his visual inspection:

Project 1: Indoor Shotcrete Constructed Tiled Pool

This project involved a complete, top-to-bottom structural refurbishment of a very old tired, leaking indoor pool, where we constructed a complete new pool shell within the old pool footprint, incorporated a hidden automatic pool cover, seating area with bubblers and finished with mosaic tiling. The inspector noted:

"This exceptional indoor swimming pool has been completely refurbished, to an extremely high standard, combining quality craftsmanship with practical design and safety considerations throughout”.

The report also highlighted our plant room layout, validating how the high-efficiency circulation pump was installed with optimal pipe runs to meet strict adherence to hydraulic design—helping to minimise water turbulence and maximise energy efficiency.  Additionally, the inspector noted our use of multi-element cartridge filters, which deliver excellent water clarity while reducing the need for backwashing, helping to conserve water and minimise operational wasted water for our clients, helping them save on running costs.

Project 2: Outdoor Liner Pool

Our second site was an outdoor liner pool installation completed by our team. The inspector described it as:

“...an attractive and well-constructed outdoor swimming pool that provides an excellent example of a high-quality domestic liner pool installation.”

The review praised the inclusion of a fully automatic hydraulic safety cover concealed beneath the coping stones, to aid heat retention and safety, while preserving a clean aesthetic.  Along with the pool installation, the paperwork audit confirmed that all site-specific pressure test certificates and operational manuals were being provided.
